The location is very secluded but the hotel is a little piecemeal in its layout for me and needs a little upgrade in the rooms.

If think the ensuite facilities were a little dated and needs upgraded

Location was nice and the grounds were beautiful!

Gluten free menu choices poor on menu (and one thing listed as GF was confirmed not to be GF)

Room 408 - Room wasn’t cleaned properly, dirty toilet, dirty around the sink, rubbish from previous visitor left in the room. The breakfast if purchased after booking is expensive. Room 411 - If you have a booking in the event rooms, you shouldn’t put guests in rooms above as it’s too noisy.

Location was good for stopover.

Arrived late (around 10/11pm) as we were using the hotel for a stopover only. 1 staff member was working, they didn't look up on arrival, sat at the check in desk wearing a non uniform hoodie with the hood up. Bit confusing and off putting after a long drive to arrive. They made a joke about robbing the place. In the morning (around 7:30am) the same staff member was working. They had the same outfit on, non uniform hoodie and had the hood up. Just very unprofessional in my opinion for an establishment that advertises itself as a hotel/spa. Would expect standard's for guests that pay for that spa experience.

The surroundings and the staff were very good. It was within easy reach of our overall destination.

The rooms seemed a little jaded but that is a slight criticism overall.

Breakfast was good plenty of choice.

Room and bathroom very dated,net curtains at window had black mold,mattress very very soft.The adjoining walls very very thin we could hear all the conversations from next doors room,conversations over heard not very pleaseant.

Style of hotel,great architecture, excellent location with great walks.

I forgot my mobile and left it in the bedroom. They refused to send it to me. I had to send paid packaging and I’m still waiting for my mobile phone to be delivered. In this day and age with IT and mobile equipment The service of returning property should be in place. We felt let down by them.

Restaurant staff were nice and food was good

Appalled at the service given. Came here for my birthday and it was completely ruined. I arrived for my prepaid spa treatment and was told that the appointment was now unavailable due to staff sickness and they couldn’t find my phone number to call me. Apparently this happens a lot when I spoke to other people staying there. The person at the spa tried to offer us a day pass for the use of the spa facilities which was a laugh as that’s included in the room... We came to use the spa later on and asked for towels he said he would bring them to us - he didn’t and my partner had to come back up to him to get them to which he pretended he was just about to bring them down (30 minutes later?). He also didn’t show us where the pool/sauna area was in the beginning or tell us we needed a token for our bags. They ran out of robes and slippers too as well as the dryer being broke hence why there as an apparent shortage of towels, we were only told this when we later questioned him. At the bar I wanted a cocktail and was told they didn’t have the stuff in to make them. I was upset about my stay and complained to the receptionist and was told I would get a phonecall the following Monday to compensate me. I got the phonecall and was told yet again, someone will call you now we have all the details from you. Heard nothing and it’s been two weeks. Will never stay here again and to think I was looking at booking my wedding here. Lauren

Room service both nights. Food was excellent and arrived quickly.

Room would benefit from a deep clean. There are several splashes on walls and table. Toothpaste and nake up marks on bathroom door.

Grand main historic building and grounds with tagged on maize of modern buildings. Rooms dated/but worn but comfy & clean. Breakfast fantastic. Pool tiny compared to impression in photo, but still great facilities.

Friendly Staff, good food, plenty of parking. Good Wifi signal throughout. Good Gym, and poolside facilities. Value for money.

Poolside facilities need some TLC. Cracked bench in sauna, celling tiles poolside look like they have seen better days.

The location was great

The buildings were old and tired but the room was very comfortable but a little small. Twice we visited the bar, once before check in and the other time at 22.15 after dinner. We made ourselves known to the reception staff who told us they would be with us in a moment to serve us but each time we waited and waited so gave up. We then asked for ice for our room and waited 20 minutes then my husband went back to reception (in the cold because our room was in a different building to reception) and again asked for ice. Finally it arrived five minutes later. Also why don’t the staff inform customers there is a bridge from the main building to the bedrooms to avoid walking in the rain which we did. We would stay here again but hope the staff treat their customers with a little more care and attention in the future

Good gym, friendly staff. Spa is a good feature. We chose this as it accommodates dogs. The bar did not stock drinks that the menu showed, this was disappointing. Thankfully we don’t drink that much. Good value for money.

Room was great, good size, very clean and comfortable. Good night's sleep, bed really comfy. Would definitely recommend booking a suite.

Forgot it was a Valentines Day menu in the restaurant, so set price and not full menu as hoped.
